I'm Dr. Lauren Hughes, FAAP, FABM, IBCLC,
I'm a board-certified pediatrician, lactation consultant, clinical associate professor of pediatrics, and unapologetically honest mom. I’ve spent nearly a decade caring for kids and supporting families. Along the way, I realized most parents don’t need more opinions; they need clarity and compassion.
I created this space to help parents understand what’s actually evidence-based, what’s total BS, and how to make decisions that feel right for their family. You’ll find practical guides, real-world parenting tips, and maybe a few jokes along the way.
Learn from a pediatrician who's also a parent. My courses and guides are designed to take the stress out of raising tiny humans. No guilt, no jargon, no fear tactics.

The Public Hughesletter
On my Substack, I write about pediatric medicine and motherhood as they show up in real life, not just in exam rooms or parenting books. I share clear, evidence-based guidance on child health and development, along with personal essays about care, work, identity, and what it actually feels like to raise kids in America right now. It’s a space where I can be honest, practical, and direct, with the goal of helping parents feel informed, supported, and a little less alone.
